Dental examine (no insurance)?

Hello,

My long time dentist since I was a little girl does not do cosmetic procedures so after doing some research, I go to a dentist that seemed to be highly recommended.

I booked a consultation appointment solitary, and when I went in he be very kind and looked over my teeth, polished them, and consequently gave me an estimate for laser whitening (which was a gala price). After he left the hygenist came contained by and told me I needed Xrays and took those. Next he came back contained by and told me that because my former dentist had chosen to keep my teachings teeth in (they came contained by very straight) that I would need to hold them sealed because they were establishment to decay (this is true).

NOW heres where it get weird and I need your direction. My supposed free consultation cost me 200 dollars. This was because they took Xrays. Were these Xrays really necessary to obtain a consult on laser teeth whitening? He also estimated that sealing my wisdom teeth would cost me 195 dollars..PER TOOTH!

I do not own dental insurance and I pay out of pocket. This is not an issue for me and I do not want any kind of return plan etc. All I want to know is

1. Was I ripped off by being charged 200 dollars for a consultation and
2. Is 195 dollars per wisdon tooth sealant a total rip bad as I suspect it is.

What would you advise me to do in this situation? Thank you again for your serve.

If it was clear that you ONLY required a consultation for teeth whitening, then yes, you were ripped stale because you don't need x-rays for that. As for the sealant, get a second feelings from your regular doctor.

As for what I'd do, I'd go and ask that doctor why he took x-rays for whitening. Then if I didn't get a suitable answer, then I wouldn't pay.

That's freshly my opinion though
$200 is too much for x-rays and consultation. You said that you had your teeth polished. I think they must be charging you for a cleaning and nouns also [ a fee of $200 is about right for x-rays, nouns and cleaning]. $195 is too much for a sealant. Sealants are NOT put on teeth that are decayed. This is a restoration fee. Something is confusing here beside what you are telling us. Source(s): I am a DDS.
