Is it expensive (assuming I own dental insurance) to treat lock-jaw?

Answers: I'm assuming you aren't meaning tetanus, but a locked cheek. which is a muscle spasm or dislocation of the jaw. athis also is best treated in the hospital emergency room since a dentist doesn't hold the necessary muscle relaxants and pain meds needed to fis the problem. It can start any time you open your mouth too wide. Source(s): A friend who go to emerg very time she leaves a dentist office.
it is often life-threatening. its not treated by a dentist but a doctor.
Most insurance doesn't cover it. You may be looking at anywhere from 300-500 to have it treated.
My husband be issues a mouth piece from a oral surgeon. It was under $100, but he did not own a bad case.
If you are refferring to TMJ - the jury is out on surgery effects and medicines. Lack jowl, in itself is treated not by a dentist, but by a specialist. A periodontist may review your case - but a bone or muscle surgeon would be needed. In any case - insurance will cover a portion of the cost of surgery.

I have lock jaw as very well (TMJ). I also have athritis. TMJ is very adjectives in kids with athritis. I am going to start a current medicine called remicade specifically supposed to help, but I'm not sure yet. There is a special doctor call a neuromuscular dentist that may be able to help you.

this site have lists of symtoms, how they can treat you and lists of neuromuscular dentists contained by your area. Good luck, I know it can be very bloody..... I've had it for a good 4 years and they are still unsure of how to treat. But I, myself enjoy never been to a neuromuscular dentist, so maybe to be exact the answer to your problem. And I am unsure if insurance can cover this procedure. I am sure someone on the site can give you an estimate if
insurance doesn't cover.

Oh yes and ignore little miss afterflakes, lock jowl is most definitely not fatal, she's of late being a pain or honestly know nothing about it.
