Individual health/dental insurance...?

I am 20 years old and on my step-father's insurance plan. However, he seems to amendment jobs every 6 months so I CONSTANTLY either a) own no current insurance, or b) am in a waiting period so I cannot receive services.

I know nil about insurance but would it be reasonable for me to draw from on an individual plan for myself? Although that's not what I would like to do ideally, I'm sick of not being competent to go to the doctor or get per annum dental cleanings. I also need to go to an Orthodontist which I know normally isn't covered by insurance, but I could deal with that when the time comes.

I'm a student and I don't hold a job with benefits so what exactly would be the best choice to look into?

Call a local agent. The policies available depend on where you live. An experienced agent can narrow down your option to one that best fits your needs, and that you can afford in basically a few minutes. Avoid the online shopping, there is just simply too much information, and too heaps scams to watch out for. Also, be uncap minded about an HSA type of policy. For more info about HSA's see relationship below.

I am a strong advocate of individual policies VS group polices because they cost less and you own it, not your employer. With an individual policy you cannot be singled out for a rate increase, nor can you be canceled because of your claims experience.
