Dental insurance issue...please support?

I recently been let go from my employer so I no longer have health insurance. But a few months ago, I remunerated my dentist $600 for a full year of cleaning and examination while I had strength insurance. I have an appointment with the dentist tomorrow and very soon the dental office is demanding that I pay $140 for the nouns tommorrow(they found out I no longer have insurance). I explained to the receptionist that I simply can not afford that, so she reduced the cost to $40. I am confused, shouldn't they honor our prepaid plan? Is what they are doing legal? Can I procure my money back for the unused portion?? Please help.

Contact the company you have your dental insurance through. They should be able to answer any questions you hold.
I work in a dentist office as a receptionist and if you have money still on your account then yea, they should honor it. you should gain a full statement printed out so you can see exactly what is left. I know how hard it is not have dental insurance because if you need major work done it add up really fast. if it turns out you have used adjectives the money you alreayd paid them see if they can work out some sort of payment plan. $140 doesnt nouns like alot but it is. see if you can leave a credit card on record for them to run monthly. we do that with some of our patients. good luck!
