Can i achieve a crown replaced? will it be covered by dental insurance?
i had a really bad tooth abscess develop on a tooth that i have a crown put on 2.5 years ago. Apparently, the filling was done and after a crown was applied but the bacteria kept multiplying. The crown be also a little loose i think so 2.5 years i developed a severe tooth abscess. Endodontist finished up doing two root canals on the same tooth. he have to go through the crown. I even had to hold an incision and drainage done with a drain b/c of the abscess that developed on the palate of my mouth by that bad tooth. Now im done my antibiotics and the swelling have gone down and i go see my dentist this tuesday to put in the irreparable filling and cap. The crown the be put on is still there but i want it removed and get a contemporary one b/c i think its faulty or too loose. I can consistency my tooth wiggle a bit when i touch it and its still very sensitive even though i have a root canal done. Can i get the crown removed? If so, will it be difficult?
Answers:
you may cease up losing the tooth down the line. sounds like the tooth is cracked. if the xray shows this the tooth may later a few years if you are very careful near it. the insurance will not pay twice for the same point. maybe the dentist will work with you. correct luck
The crown can be replaced reasonably easily by drilling it off.I would not do this until or unless the tooth settles down first,of late to be sure that nothing else is going on.Insurance usually pays if the crown is 5 years old or more,or if you own a different carrier from when the crown was initially made. Answer to your question, "Can I get a . . ." Yes.
Answer to the second query, call your insurance provider.
All the Best.
Usually, ins. co.'s won't pay for a new crown below 5 yrs. old. However, if your present crown is defective or there is a medical defence to replace, this could be covered.
Your dentist will know if the crown wishes to be replaced. If so, your insurance will cover it. However, depending on your policy, it may be covered for only 50% of the cost. Check your policy handbook.
Try this one - http://healthplans.my-age.net - my relations have their health insurance - it is affordable and have good coverage for dental issues.
As I remember they can provide crown replacement in my plan.
