Claiming Dental on 2007 Taxes ? I enjoy no insurance and money eveything.?
If I get a statement from the dentist office can I subtract it? I was using turbo tax and saw medical / dental when I be filling everything out.
I have a couple of hundred dollars from getting things fixed this year and not have insurance.
Thanks
Technically, you can discount your dental expenses. However, you deduct them as medical expenses subject to a floor of 7.5% of your adjusted gross income (AGI). That is you can discount only the amount that exceeds 7.5% of your AGI. If you have singular $200 in dental expenses, and no other medical expenses, your AGI would have to be smaller number than $2,667 and your tax is already $0.
You can singular get a deduction for medical expenses if you itemize adjectives your deductions rather than taking the standard supposition.
Even if you do itemize, you can only deduct the amount of your medical expenses that are greater than 7.5 percent of your AGI. For most culture, it's simply not enough to bother with.
"> A couple hundred dollars isn't going to get it. You can only discount the amount that's over 7.5% of your adjusted gross income, and then individual if your total itemized deductions are more than your standard deduction so you itemize.
