Can I be added to my bf's health/dental insurance from work?
Hi. I was wondering if I am actually competent to be added to my boyfriends benefits he gets from work. We live in Las Vegas, Nevada and he works at the Clark County Detention Center so its the County. My payrol hand at my work told me we can as long as we have one bill under both of our name to prove we are living together. We have been living together for alittle over 4 years and its other been a question on our minds.
Answers:
If you are within Las Vegas already, just go to any of the instant nuptials chapels there and get married; after you can be married to his insurance because he will be your husband. Problem solved.
If he has coverage for a domestic partner-maybe. You will hold to see what the requirements are for eligibility.
If you are competent to be added, that is dependent upon state law and/or employer policy, to be removed you will hold to go to court and get a court demand, in all practical a divorce which open up a whole other can of worms such as access to assets and retirement accounts.
i'm not aware of this when they state domestic partnership, I believe they are talking same sex relationships where the couple is considered "married". if u adjectives want to save money though check out linx2health.. helps to collect up to 50% off on ANY type of doctor's visits (medical, dental, daydream, prescriptions, etc...) Im just so happy i run into this information cuz it has helped my grandparens alot SO i'm freshly trying to share the info with everybody! check www.5linx.net/lab under products for more info going on for your state. Source(s): Members can save an average of 10% to 50%, at over 300,000 provider offices throughout the country, including Family Practice physicians and specialists.
My guess is you need to be married or legal domestic partner. Otherwise adding people on insurance policies contained by this method would become a scam.
Your payroll employee at your work doesn't have the authority to vote what can or can't be covered under your boyfriend's insurance. He needs to collaborate with the HR people at *his* work to see whether or not you can be covered.
