Cost of treating a dental abscess lacking insurance?
I'm pretty much positive that i have a periapical abscess on my top second molar on the left side of my mouth. I broke this tooth a while ago, and very soon there is some swelling above the tooth, as well as headache in my right cheek and a swollen and painful lymph node underneath my left lower jaw. I also enjoy an impacted wisdom tooth thats partially broken through the gums, creating an operculum that i suspect is trapping infection, as it can find very painful.
I would enjoy gotten this problem dealt with long ago, but my kith and kin has never been competent to afford dental insurance. Now that i am in college, I'm to have vigour insurance to enroll. So i have the cheap and pretty worthless student health plan through Consolidated Health Plans. It doesnt cover any dental work outside of prudence tooth extraction (typical 80%) and injury to a "sound, natural tooth".
About how much would getting a knowledge tooth extraction and extraction/treatment for my abscessed tooth with my current plan?
Answers:
Guideg gave you some excellent warning. I wouldn't waste time trying to get medical insurance to rate for dental problems--it's almost never worth the effort.
With abscesses, you want help NOW. From your description the wisdom tooth is a chronic frequent problem--you may be able to resolve the infection with melt saline rinses 1/2 tsp. salt to warm marine. If there is significant swelling antibiotics may be necessary. But for the broken tooth you really should not loaf. Dental schools, some voluntary hospitals have dental clinics. Public assistance is obedient if you qualify, but enrolling may take too much time.
Good luck,
