Terrible toothache and no dental insurance? ?
I've been swishing with heat up salt water and it usually help but not tonight. Plus, the more it hurts, the more I catch myself gritting my teeth in misery...and the cycle continues. We don't have insurance yet because my husband a short time ago started a new job and we moved to a bright state. Any other ideas besides saltwater? (And for the people wanting to be vile, just move on, please.)

-Avoid very cold or hot foods because this may make the strain worse.

Where is the tooth? Is it an impacted tooth? Is it a cavity? Is it gingivitis? There could be any number of things wrong. Have you tried a topical anesthetic? It may give support to with the pain short permanent status. If it's infected you will need antibiotics. Try extra gargles next to Listerine, it also numbs (if you do it long enough).
