Dental Insurance reimbursement?

My ex has been providing me beside copies of dental bills for my daughters dental work. I have been reimbursing her for partially of the bills each time. I do not currently provide dental insurance for my daughter. I noticed a box on the bottom of the bill that showed previous charges, current charges, etc. and estimated amount insurance will cover, which showed the full previous amount. I begin wondering if the ex has dental insurance for my daughter and is receiving reimbursements for the bills contained by addition to me paying her for half of the bill. Being the type of character she is, I wouldn't put it past her. Is there any means of access I could call the Dentist myself and ask if insurance is being provided for my daughters dental work - or am I going to own a problem because of HIPAA regulations? Any advice is appreicated.
Answers:
If you have joint lawful custody, you have every legal right inside the HIPAA regulations to the information regarding your child's dental care (exam results, procedures done, etc). If your ex have full legal custody then you can't procure the information without her permission. The bureau probably won't, however, be obligated to provide the financial details of your wife's billing account. You'd have to hire an attorney and report suit to find out. In the meantime, I would only pay her partially of the amount listed in the "copay" or "merciful responsibility" column.
Make the call. They can any give you the information, or say they can't provide it. If you enjoy been paying on full charges and your EX has be collecting the windfall, then she owes you some back payments. You can update her that you will no longer pay on anything except full disclosure statements from the dentist office, after any insurance have been applied, and that as a parent with financial responsibility, you insist on person included under HIPPA. Otherwise, stop paying. If she persues it, then she will own to disclose any insurance and payments she's collected. Usually, medical and dental offices send out a bill after the insurance claim have cleared.
Make copies of all the bills you received and tender it to a lawyer to review.
It would've taken less time to call than it did to type this give somebody the third degree. Do it, then you'll know the answer.
