Im told that because my sofa is old and not in production anymore i can claim a brand trial 1 on my contents insurance (spilled paint on mine while decorating)! Is this true?
Answers:
Spilling paint on your sofa is not a concern of the insurance company. You will not have a claim within this case i'm afraid. Source(s): Licensed General Lines Agent & Certified Professional Ins. Agent
Only your broker/agent can speak for sure if the damage to your couch is covered. If you have Replacement Cost on your policy for your Contents later yes your insurer will pay for a new couch of similar to kind and quality, subject to your deductible (they will settle you Actual Cash Value until you replace the couch and then reimburse you for the rest of the cost).
David L, Home insurance is actually very flexible. I don't follow all the details of my policy, but my home insurance agent is always cooperative. Try calling your agent or a homeowners agent in your city. http://www.americaschoicetoday.com/Home-Insurance.html They should be able to assist you.
I expect that you are not covered for accidents such as this. Contents insurance usually with the sole purpose covers loss such as theft or fire.
