Buying renters/contents insurance -how to I find out what the roof's made of, what sort of locks are in attendance etc?

I'm just moving into a small flat with my girlfriend and I'm looking at contents/renters insurance. My problem is, I don't know if the prime doors have a 247 leaver killer-man deadlock or what the roof is made of, and I doubt my landlord will. He owns the flats, but not the entire building so the external locks aren't his concern.... What can we do?
Answers:
Just describe them you have dead bolt locks and the roof is composition shingle. If they really want to know they will come out and inspect and I know they won't.
Because of the fact that your not interested contained by covering the actual structure, then it really doesnt matter what type of roof or locks you enjoy. The price of your policy will be determined on the amount of contents and liability you want to be insured for.
Most apartment buildings, if they are built prior to 1980's are usually asphalt shingle/composition roofs. If they are built after that, then they can also be spanish tile. Youll know if its tile, since it has a brown/orange color, and asphalt shingle if they are resembling squares or flat wiht a grey/black or brown color.
Just say that you do have deadbolt locks on your door.

There are lone a few main kinds of roofing these are slate roofs (which are grey ) adjectives roofs (which are normally terracotta) Flat roofs (tarmac , pitch )or concrete like if the roof is also a saloon park.Thatched roof (straw).Try to look at the roof from a distance and see what its made of - or if possible look through a skylight.
You could always ask a neighbour or the owner should know.
The same for the locks if you can whip a photo we may be able to identify the locks for you.The keys will bequeath you some information on what kind of locks you have and how you lock / unlock the doors will report you if they are fitted with deadlocks.eg do you need to turn the key two full revolutions to open the door ?
whip an educated guess (look at the roof and locks), or ask your neighbours - i assume they're insured too
