Answers:
It should be. You would need to check with your insurer as policies do come and go but 9 times out of 10 this type of thing is covered.
All insurance policies are different. Just because your neighbours is covered, doesn't mean you are.
Laptops are a funny one because they are intended to be carried around. Some policies won't cover them because they will argue that they are not "contents", i.e. they do not have to be within the home. It is the same with mobile phones, bicycles and ipods, etc.
You entail to check the policy for "portable possessions" cover.
You also need to check for Accidental Damage cover as not all policies hold this, especially cheaper ones. Often, Accidental Damage does not cover portable possessions.
One more thing that you need to check is whether you enjoy "new-for-old" cover (i.e. they will refund the cost of a brand new one) or whether ot is simply repairs or a part-payment. Also, many insurers will not cover items worth more than a certain amount unless you hold specifically named them on the policy.
Of course, what I should have put first - and it would hold been a much shorter answer! - the only road you will know for certain is if you give them a ring. They will directly be able to tell you if the laptop is covered. Make sure you ask them how a claim would affect your premiums too. It might work out cheaper to seize it repaired yourself.
Good Luck!
Mine be covered too, but I had to pay the first lb100, my youngest son knock a glass of coke over it.
Mine was but I have to pay the first lb50, don't we just luv children, umm mine be my cat at the time he knocked a glass of drink adjectives over the key board, good luck ;)
It really does depend on the insurance policy!!
Ive had friends claim on their contents insurance, but other who have be refused.
Give them a call and see what they read aloud when you try to claim is probably the best option.
It is also down to where the 'accident' happen too!

Depends on your policy.
