Is at hand any insurance I could enjoy purchased to cover my contents for Hurricane Ike?
I live in the Galveston Texas area.I file a claim with my insurance company from the damage cause by Hurricane Ike. My homeowners insurance is not paying anything at all. Texas Wind Insurance Association is paying only for disfavour caused to the house itself, they are not covering my contents. Is there any insurance I could own purchased to cover my contents?
Answers:
Well, we had to hold flood insurance where I live (IL) (required by mortgage) & I know it doesn't cover contents....only dwelling, & washer dryer etc. All the clothes etc we lost due to flooding from rain from Ike are not covered.
Sucks.
IF you had contents coverage through TWIA, that would have covered the WIND desecrate to your contents.
If you had flood coverage, with contents coverage on that, it would cover flood blight to your contents, that were in the house, above ground height.
If you're being told you have no contents coverage, economically, you could have bought contents coverage. And you should call your agent Monday, to see nearly adding contents, so the NEXT hurricane is covered.
**ps, I lost my house in Galveston, too, and didn't enjoy any insurance on it. We're headed down tomorrow to see if anything is salvagable, but I doubt it.**
Neighbor to you, (Lake Charles, La.), just wanted to speak sorry to hear all of this stuff is going on for you, but glad you're ok and safe...that's adjectives that matters!
I wanted to afford you this information.....
Have you tried to get the SBA Loans? (When you register with FEMA, you should draw from a packet in the mail from them.)
Registered for FEMA?
I don't construe all the stuff for SBA, but I know it will help you near stuff insurance is not paying for.
To answer your question, yes you can get contents added to your insurance plan, purely be sure you are accurate on prices when you are putting them on insurance and allow for a little more due to price changes. Source(s): I enjoy it on my homeowners insurance.
Why is your homeowner's insurance not paying? Was it flood damage?
