Personal Contents Insurance?
Hi All,
I am 25 & don't own a house yet and live with my folks. (yeah yeah not as bleak as it sounds haha)
I was wondering if anyone knew of any Personal Insurance i can carry which will cover laptops, mobile phones, lost wallets - you know day to daytime things we've all lossed and had to replace.
Everything i hunt for requires Home & Contents (obviously i dont have a home so cant do this)
Any help pointing me contained by right direction is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If you were actually living at home beside your parents in the US, their policy would cover any of your stuff since you are a member of the household (no thing what your age). Check with their insurance agent if this applies in Australia as powerfully. If it does not or if you feel that you still need your own policy, after go to the insurance agent and get a renter's policy. In the US, a renter's policy is considered to be a pernickety type of homeowners policy, but it just covers your liability for loss to others and your possessions (contents). A renter's policy in AUS appears to pretty much cover duplicate stuff as one in the US covers. (Precise details would be different, but it is an available policy within AUS.) In the US, we have the other option of a specific type of Inland Marine coverage that provides coverage for personal property simply. However, I did not see anything on the AUS sites about insurance coverage concerning Personal Inland Marine coverage. (And what I did see about Commercial IM coverage within AUS did not appear that it could be used in the many and sundry ways as it can be in the US.)
In any case, work near your parents' insurance agent. He should be able to tell you if you in actuality need your own coverage. If you do, it would be reasonable to work beside their agent so that you can get your needs properly coordinated. What coverage you would want should not cost you very much.
You need renters insurance. It is the exact same coverage as a homeowners policy but minus the coverage for the structure. It will cover adjectives of your personal belongings not just the few items you mention. Depending upon the amount of insurance the cost will be $200 - $250 per year..
