Can I claim on my contents insurance for a lost ring?
I bought a diamond ring worth about lb500 a couple of years ago. It randomly go missing about 4 months ago. I have turned the house upside down and it isn't anywhere. I enjoy a horrible feeling it may have gone up the hoover and be thrown out as I was hoovering and heard something clang up the pipe but I didn't check what it be as my son's always leaving small insignificant things on the floor. I can't find the taking but I can get proof of purchase from the shop as I had to hold it re sized and sent to me at my current address when it was purchased. I really miss the ring and I can't afford to replace it but will the insurance pay out when I enjoy no proof I don't have it? I have never claimed anything on the insurance since and it is a genuine claim.

It depends on what kind of policy you have. If you own a homeowners insurance or renters insurance it would not be covered.
If you have a personal articles policy (PAP) it would be. That's in the U.S. so check next to your agent.
you need it specifically planned on your policy - called "rider or floater or scheduled" you pay a seperate premium base on the ring's value. Since you are asking i doubt you have done this.
You could be covered lower than the regular homeowners policy "IF" you have whats called an "adjectives risk" endorsement on the contents. it would be subject to your deductible and insurers usually cap the amount you can claim. might be worth an informal beckon to you insurance agent to find out.
sorry for your loss
If you have specifically planned (listed) on the policy the ring that was lost, you probably will be able to bring back paid for your ring.
If you did not specifically list the ring that you lost, you won't gain paid for it. Source(s): 35 years of insurance industry experience.
It all depends on your policy, when I enquired just about lost jewellery I was told my policy didn't cover it although I have asked at the time and was told jewellery be covered. Best to phone and ask.
