What does a commercial insurance tag within the state of Georgia look approaching?

Answers: Just contact your insurance agent, speak about them you need one and they will provide one for you.

Since Georgia has not long changed the law requiring contractors to be licensed, and to be licensed, you HAVE to HAVE insurance (Commercial General liability and Workers' Compensation) you will HAVE to HAVE a Certificate of Insurance for anyone that you do business with/for.

I can visualize the production of counterfeit certificates of insurance becoming a cottage industry close to the fake ID Cards used to be prior to the GEICS system for electronic verification for auto insurance surrounded by Georgia. I am sure that this is something that Commissioner Oxendine is looking into as well!

Certificates of insurance are collectively put on a standard form for the insurance industry. It basically has section for each of the most commonly purchased coverages (General Liability, Auto, Workers Compensation, Umbrella and other). Whichever policies the Insured actually purchased will hold the information listed in the correct section. The sections will have spaces for policy number, Effective and Expiration date and limits of insurance. At the top Will list the Agency information, and the Insurance companies used. At the bottom of the ticket will have a section to record the Certificate Holder as well as a general description box contained by case you need to chronicle further information (i.e. project description, Additional Insureds, etc.)

Keep in mind that some insurance companies have their own forms that they use to show this same information. These certificate are for informational purposes only, so the form does not make a together lot of difference.

OK, on that visualizing fake certificate . . .I've SEEN them, and I know they're out there.

MOST companies use Accord certificates of insurance. BUT, you see, the AGENCY label is on them with a contact phone number, so whoever it is that gets the cert can check it. Of course, it list the policy numbers, coverage amounts, effective dates, and mover name - someone else to call and verify.

Then the bottom part has the "holder" provision - the person getting the pass. So it's custom printed out for each of your clients that asks for one. You can't do it - your agent has to gain it for you. Some contractors request 5 - 10 certificates A WEEK. It's normal. Source(s): agent, 21+ years
