First time driver vehicle insurance?

I passed my driving test on Monday (3rd time lucky & only 8 minors!)

I enjoy a 1.1 ford fiesta lx and I need to get the due and insurance. I know the tax will be about lb115 but the insurance, can be fairly expensive!

Im not sure whether to go on my mums insurance as a named driver or be in motion straight on my own! Please advise of benefits and down side etc!

Many thanks

I'd bite the bullet and win your own policy. It's a bit daunting at first, but you'll start reaping the benefits by totting up your own no claims bonus. If this isn't an leeway financially, you can go on your mums insurance, be be warned, you are a lesser driver. Your mother should be the primary driver, so in the event of an accident, the insurance companies may do somewhat extra homework and discover it's your car. In which case, they won't be amused and may parameter your claim. Some companies do offer a no claims bonus to secondary drivers, so that's probably the second best bearing to go about it. Which ever bearing you choose, ask plenty of questions and read all the documents that come. It's not fear-provoking, it just seems that approach. Hope that helps.
try elephant.co.uk, they are vey good
first congratulations for passing your test.
i expect it is better to go straight on your own because you will build up your no claims.
i suggest trying elephant as it seems to be honourable for younger or inexperienced drivers but still shop around you will get hundreds of pounds knocked rotten your first quote.
depends in the short permanent status it is cheaper to go on mums insurance because it is cheaper. however you need to build up your no claims bonus other prudent you will always have large premiums on your insurance. having your own insurance is the best long term solution although it will cost you more surrounded by the long run. myself and my mates have found Quinn Direct to be the cheapest insurance company for foreign drivers by far. get a quote from them and see how you get on! Congratulations!! Perhaps being a named driver for a while would be worth doing as the elder you get the cheaper your insurance will be. If you want to go it alone later have a word with Norwich Union, they be talking about a special policy for infantile people, there be restrictions like the times you drive and the miles you do but it would start your no-claims bonus. I've heard that the Post Office is the cheapest for immature drivers but haven't tried them yet for my sons insurance.
Good luck

Benefits of one a named driver is that it's cheaper
Benefits of having your own is that you build up your no-claims bonus.
Check next to Direct Line as they have a policy that named drivers can also build up their no-claims bonus too so this might be a better selection for you. Source(s): Insured with Direct Line
Depends who your moms insured with, its extraordinarily important at a young age to start building a NCB (no claims bonus), this can be done on 2nd drivers on select policies, but not many.

I'd recommend your own policy, it will cost a little bit but its amazing how virtuous prices can be if you shop around.

A drive a 3.2 jaguar xj sport, the highest fully comp insurance quote i had be lb2,400 the one i went for was singular lb320.

Pays to shop around.
Try both quotes with you on your own and on my mums as named driver. Insurance companies don't allow name drivers to build up their no claims bounces. But Directline does offer this benefit for named drivers so try beside them.
