Car insurance on a rental motor?

I know that when renting a car if you have motor insurance you are also covered for the rental. However I also heard that the time the car is out of commission may not be covered and you may still want the liability insurance through the motor rental place. Is there any truth in this?
Answers:
It varies depending on your policy. Car rental companies can charge you for loss of use and this most likely is not covered by your personal insurance policy. It may be covered by your credit card depending on the card. I would ask your insurance agent and check next to your credit card company. I have found that American Express have the best saloon rental coverage and also have some car rental specific put in ons for less than $20. Source(s): http://www.carrentalsavers.com
Insurance goes near cars, not drivers, so when you rent a car it is insured. If you want to take their optional insurance, that would cover anything you did to damage the car.

Just have insurance on your own car doesn't necessarily cover rentals too. You can get that coverage if you close to, but it isn't automatic, and usually your deductible would apply.
Here is an article give or take a few insurance on rental car. Maybe help for you:

The only associates who can answer this question with 100% confidence for your situation is going to be someone at your insurance company. The answer, amazingly, is different from company to company, as powerfully as from state to state. So honestly, I wouldn't rely on an answer you receive through here. An answer that was true in one person's circumstances, may not be true contained by yours, and vice versa. im not sure but usually collison verbs would cover that part, everybody insurance policy is different so ask your insurance company and see which coverage you need, liability would merely cover any 3rd party claim up to million dollar,
Yes this is true. I used to govern a car rental office and have dealt with this numerous times, but since I worked so closely near the insurance adjusters they paid for the few days the car be out of commission and of course I gave them a drastically reduced day by day rate for doing me that favor and I would put that customer into another car so everyone was beaming! I always suggest taking out the extra insurance from the rental car company. Yes you are largely covered in the rental, that is if you trade name a call to your insurance company and ask them if they'll cover you in a rental vehicle. In virginia there is no deductible for the insurance you would carry on the rental sports car should you get into an accident. It's really something you want to be calling around about to see what all the regulations are.
No truth to what you heard. When you take in an accident near the rental car, your credit card will be charged for your insurance deductable (e.g. $250, $500, $1000). The insurance company will take attention of the rest. Your rates will be increased based on your driving history, if you were at failure, and the costs of the damages (including medical).

If you rent for business, because your corporation sent you.... your corporations MAY have you wave the coup¨¦ rental company insurance as well. When they do this, it's because they are either self insured or the negoitated rate near the preferrred auto rental company INCLUDES the insurance (even though, the at the rental counter they may try and tell you otherwise).
hey from my own experience its best to buy here insurance with 0 deductible for instance i rented a car for a week i bought here insurance even though i has my own some 1 backed into the rental saloon if i had my own insurance i would have have to pay the deductible $500 and also had an insurance increase because i bought near insurance for $50 for the week i had no deductible and my insurance knew zilch about the incident there for no insurance increase other buy there insurance you cant lose no matter what liberal of insurance you have
Hi, it is best to be over insured than beneath insured. While it is true you wll be covered by your own insurance the car rental cover is generally much complex. For example, you may have only $10,000 third jamboree cover on your own personal policy which isn't much, whereas the rental company will usually have a much higher amount.
