Am I covered by my mom's coup¨¦ insurance?

I'm 16 and I just got my driver's security. Can I drive my mom's car (having her with me) and be covered by her insurance if I am not nominated on it?
Answers:
Well, it depends on what insurance company she has. MOST insurance companies don't insist that you record a permitted driver, only a licensed driver. BUT, some do. You'll have to check next to her insurance company to be absolutely sure. Source(s): agent, 21+ years
Yes, you can.
You don't have to be listed on her insurance until you catch your drivers license.
Have your Mother check with her insurance company. Every State I own lived in requires anyone who drives the vehicle to be on the policy. Some companies cover a learner automatically while others do not.
Insurance goes with cars, not drivers. Actually you couldn't be on her insurance at this point even if you looked-for to be, since you don't have a license, only a grant and will never be driving alone.

Once you have your license, then it will be time to affix you to the policy as a secondary driver.
1. YOU WILL HAVE TO NOTIFY THE INSURANCE COMPANY.

2. YOU MUST BE LISTED ON HER POLICY AS WELL. Source(s): 923
