Does taking money from passenger toward costs infringe private vehicle insurance?

A friend is concerned that she might be doing something illegal if she contributes to the cost of her colleague taking her to work in her saloon. Does anyone know whether this is the case or not?
Answers:
Strictly speaking, it is illegal ask for money, or any equivalent, as a fare from passenger, unless you are a registered taxi driver using a registered taxi. However, surrounded by your case, although there is no black and white ruling on contributing towards the cost of transport, it is such a insignificant matter that I would struggle to see any negative implication arising from it.
I'm assuming you mean petrol money or something. It's not declared returns, so no it's not against the law, and doesn't infringe private car insurance.

Loads of race do it, if someone ran me to work regular, I'd want to give them some money towards the cost of fuel. It's solely polite to offer. If her friend doesn't want to take the money that's up to them. I other offer, even if I'm turned down.
Very sticky situation. Legally, if you are paying for the ride, you have more arbitrary of filing a lawsuit if an accident occur. Doesn't happen very normally, and many people make a contribution money to cover gas. The only time it really matters is surrounded by court.
I'd say in most cases, no.

As long as, particularly specifically, the owner of the car doesn't offer that to others.

That would brand it look very much like business use, since there's income. And multiple "clients".

But if a friend offer to chip in some gas money on occasion, no canon against that.

Also really depends on the amount of money. If it's something like $5 a week, I doubt there's any concern.
Not if it is only for costs. If it be for profit then it would be a problem
No she is not committing an offence.
All she is doing is 'helping out with the cost of fuel'
It is call car sharing
No it doesn't do anything to the insurance.
You are not using the car for hire, this is a short time ago giving a lift.
