How do you expect insurance companies would button self driving cars?
There is no piece of technology I want more from the future then the self driving coup¨¦
I HATE DRIVING, I hate it, I cannot stand it. and I hate adjectives you mofos who need to feel big controlling a 2 ton apparatus beacuse some people think its adjectives or nothing with the SD cars that they could never program them to anticipate human error
Im simply wondering how insurance companies would handle it, my guess is that they wouldn't
but if i'm in a SD motor and I get into an accident its not my defect, its the manufacturers fault.
My rates should not turn up, and I shouldn't have to pay for a computer error that I have nothing to do with.

I meditate it's going to depend on exactly how "self directed" cars are, if there's a mix of traditional and self directed cars on the road, and if there are any overrides.
Theoretically, if EVERYONE be in a SD car, consequently there would BE no accidents, or if near were, it WOULD be manufacturer error. Because of that, I'd vote those manufacturers would be UNABLE to buy insurance to cover their risks, and no one else should hold to buy any type of liability coverage (medical payments are another matter, though).
So, I think if we really have commercial SD cars, the whole auto industry, and the insurance related to the auto industry, would dramatically correct.
The agency that controlled traffic would have to be in on the insurance underwrite. There isn't any other way to handle it. And near would have to be a manual override, because everywhere you needed to walk couldn't possibly all be on the grid. Parking may need to be handle manually as well, so traditional insurance would very much be within effect, sad to say.
Self driving cars would be great!
Less wrecks....yippee.
I'll still enjoy a job though.
You can always count on hailstones storms, hurricanes, tornadoes....
and the idiots who will disengage all the self driving car safekeeping features so they can drive the car them selves....speed and wreck.
But...all coy aside- reducing wrecks and injuries from accidents is a good entity and something the insurance industry supports. Source(s): Insurance Adjuster 12 years
