Can I buy a 2nd existence insurance policy?
I have a $150,000 life insurance near my employer, can I buy a 2nd separate policy from a different company? Will my beneficiary receive the amount of both policy?
Answers:
Yes you can buy another policy. However, when buying life insurance it is best to add to what you enjoy rather than replace. Certain life insurance policies build lolly value usually after two years. However, when you replace one with another sometimes you can lose the lolly value. Source(s): Licensed Insurance Agent
Yes to all of your questions.
In reality I recommend that you if you have a need for life span insurance (replacing income, final expenses, etc.) then you always inevitability to have your own policy separate from your employer.
I've attached a link to an article I posted to my blog not long on this very subject, but in summary most employer policies are not portable. You can't transport them with you when you leave the company. That way you'll have gaps surrounded by coverage when you change or lose your job. Also most general public need more than the life insurance that their employer provides to replace their lost income for their relations. Source(s): http://gardenstatelifeinsurance.blogspot…

You can buy life insurance privately and name anyone you want to as the beneficiary. It is fine to christen one person as beneficiary on two different policies. Call a life insurance agent to capture a quote. Best of luck to you. Source(s): retired agent
