Would it be smart to buy this motor subsidise from insurance co.?

2002 Chevy Malibu 160,000 miles

The car was within a minor yet expensive accident. A guy run a stop sign and clipped the back end of the sports car. He grazed accross the back door and gas cap nouns. The car looks and runs great except for that area of the quirk. The insurance co. agreed to $3125.00 for settlement. They said they would salvage the car for $500 for their profit. Should I go ahead and buy the sports car back for myself... ($500)? It still runs good... I remunerated $2100 for the car. Plus i could use a temporary coup¨¦ until I can find another one...

As long as your State doesn't require bodywork to be in good condition $500 seem a good deal for a runabout.
I would. That give you the car and $2600. I bet you can buy a 1/4 panel and install it yourself for 200 or so. Buy a welder for 250 and a grinder for 50, have it painted for 200. Car is as dutiful as it was and you have 1900, a spanking new welder and grinder for your trouble.
That's what I did with a work truck. I even put new tires and have it re-upholstered. Truck came out looking better than it had contained by years and I kept 2500.
Sounds like it would be fine. Maybe you can get it cheaper than $500. wouldn't hurt to ask
I think it will be alright. Ask if you can bring it less than $500.
