How do I buy insurance (health, energy, disability, long residence, etc.)? I'm self-employed and my wife is pregnant.

I have no clue how the insurance industry works, so I feel approaching I'm in a bad position to wrangle shop. I tend not to trust slick advertising. Do I need to read a book? Are near trust-worthy, friendly, smart professionals who can meet and talk near you about this? What are they even called??

The professionals are call independent insurance agents. They know the market in your nouns and can find the best plan for you. They do not charge you any extra for their help.

You will not be able to achieve the health insurance with your wife pregnant. You can possibly carry on a guaranteed issue policy if one is available in your state. Check with the agent. Stay away from the medical discount plans because they're not worth the ink to print the slick selling. Most doctors will not accept those plans. You will save more money paying currency for the delivery.

You can still get the other policies, again check near the agent. Source(s): Independent Agent
yes please, u will be personally contacted http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-1748196-103…
Let me start by aphorism - I am not sure how it works in your state, but in Nevada; a woman who is pregnant can not get individual coverage until she delivers AND and expecting father can not procure indivdiual coverage as well. This is because of the risk associated with covering a newborn.

Because you are self employed - do you hold a LLC, C or S corp? If so, are both you and your wife listed on the articles of incorp or the list of manager? If so, and both of you work for the company - you may qualify for Group Coverage. In the state of Nevada, pre-existing exclusions for pregnancy are not allowed on group plans.

OK, the BEST thing to do, is go to the guy who sell you your car insurance and/or house insurance. You already have a relationship at hand, start with them.

Then ask around to friends, coworkers, neighbors, how they like their agents.

What you're really looking for is a local, independent agent, who will shop out what you want. The REALLY angelic guys don't have to advertise heavily - they rely on word of mouth - so your neighbors & friends are the BEST place to travel, if you're own agent can't help you.
