After buying a trailer, do you gain insurance?
We just bought a trailer that we will be using to take an dbring scaffoliding from and to work and I needed to know if we needed to bring back insurance on it or is it covered with the insurance the truck has?
Answers:
It's optional, but needs to be insured separately against lay waste to. If you wreck the truck and trailer, you'd only be covered for the truck, so decide how much you're of a mind to risk for the premiums.
Trailer insurance is not too expensive, though. Our $5000 horse trailer is insured for $50 a year
The truck covers any damage you might do with the trailer but it doesn't cover bring down to the trailer.

It is covered for liability if being pulled by a truck that's insured. However, if it is tattered, it is not covered unless you add it to the policy and buy comp and collision. You need to check beside your insurance company regarding whether you can even insure it. Source(s): claims person
liability coverage follows the towing truck, (trailers don't do anything wrong by themselves), but material damage lines (comp & collision) must be put on the trailer itself.
That depends upon state directive. I know from first-hand experience that in MA and CA, you need separate insurance on the trailer. However within TX you do not as long as the tow vehicle is insured. Check with your DMV. That's for liability only; for collision and comp you have need of separate coverage.
In most cases, the trailer automatically has liability coverage stemming from the vehicle that is pulling it. However, if you want full coverage on the trailer, you will involve to call your insurance company and have the trailer added on. Trailers are typically extraordinarily cheap to insure. You'll need the make & model and the serial number and you'll want to tell them how much the trailer is worth (how much you paid for it). Source(s): I work contained by insurance in NC
yes you return with insurance after getting a trailer.
