Is it even official to force everyone to buy medical insurance?

Article 1 of the Constitution gives our government the power to regulate commerce among the several states, but where on earth does it say they can force us into commerce?
Answers:
By that logic I guess social security should be evil, too. It does contain the word 'social', so it therefore must be evil. Let's ask seniors. Oh yeah, if you do you lose every time. I forgot. Sorry, I must be retarded.
It is not Constitutional and should be challenged in court. Some are nit-picking almost the meaning of words in the commerce clause, but it would not stand up against a strict Constitutional defy. I certainly hope it doesn't pass contained by the first place, but if it does, the Supreme Court will have to make a finding.

Solar: You can choose not to drive a car or own a home. You are not being forced to buy anything. Under the bill, you will be penalize for not buying something many people may never involve, so it is unconstitutional.
Obama does not care. He is planning a coup d'etat and that is not legitimate either.
It is NOT like Social Security. By SCOTUS ruling, the government CANNOT run an "insurance" policy. Social Security is nil more than a TAX that goes into the General Fund and is used to pay for a bevy of social programs.

IF Obama tries to force a "National INSURANCE Program", it can be defeated as individual unconstitutional.

Of course.... this only happens AFTER it is passed, and IF you can catch the corrupt Supreme Court to actually HEAR the case (liken this to the multitude of tenet suits they refused to hear about his birth certificate).

We are SCREWED underneath this Administration. The Pres, Congress, and several SCOTUS judges need to GO! We're close to another revolution if they keep shoving this stuff on us...
Nope, it's not.
I have no issues with populace opting out, provided they have nearly $150,000 in cash reserves surrounded by a savings account or some other tale that they can access at a moments notice to pay for hospitalization and doctors bills.

As for it mortal "legal", I'm forced to pay for auto insurance, home owners insurance, flood insurance, earthquake insurance, etc.
Our government & courts have be activist for a long time, therefor, it is legal if the policy says it is. Forcing us to buy insurance is just another form of export tax without calling it a tax. The affairs of state has been giving away vigour care for years, this is just another style to grab power & control while figuring out a clever passageway to spin the cost.

Tax payer get ready to bend over Uncle Obama & Aunt Pelosi are coming at you & they disappeared the KY at home!
You own a choice. Force people to buy medical insurance or pay their hospital bills when they become not a hundred percent and cannot afford to pay for their own expenses (after you have taken away their homes and nest egg, of course).

Either way, we all failure up paying for something.
Just as legal as it is to force drivers to have auto insurance; or homeowners to enjoy home insurance.
Yes, it is. The wording of the Constitution is quite broad. The Preamble and the Congress' power to make law, regulate commerce, not to mention the necessary and proper clause, provide the basis for form care regulation and the mandate.
I think near a public option or single payer it will hold in court. Without a public prospect it may not because there is no legal precedent for mandate the purchase of a service from a private company.

In my personal opinion it is highly unconstitutional any way but I'm just a citizen not a royal congressperson so I don't situation.
Nope, also I wasn't aware that if I didn't hav insurance, got sick and go to the doctor that taxpayers paid for that? I thought it came out of my own pocket. Where is the info that the taxpayers already settle for it?
please just progress through life with out robustness care insurance of any type especially when you get elder, i dare you. your just more cheep talk on the internet, but you will avail yourself of every administration program you can in your life time so lately shut up already with the idea that you never will.
All's I know is that I'm already forced to buy Car Insurance. I'm thankful I am not forced to buy Home Insurance, although the bank would require me to do so if I have a mortgage.
Unfortunately, the Supreme Court does not stand up for American freedoms much anymore.
It shouldn't be but that is another piece of the socialist economy we are "aiming" for...
I think we need a regulation that if you don't have insurance - you pay the bill or you move about without care.

Are you aware over 30% of babies born (74% within some areas) are paid for with Medicaid and state funds. Why the H*** don't these ancestors have to pay for their irresponsibility? These are immature, healthy, employable people. Society shouldn't settle for them.
Libs make up laws as they progress. Source(s): Eduardo thanks for helping me prove my point.
I dont think it is how can they force us to trade name purchases, it opens up a can of worms for sure! Next they will say you will buy this aid or that house.
We'll make it legalized.
If you haven't noticed, relations in washington don't really give a damn what the constitution say any more
