I of late bought a sidekick slide and I'm confused going on for insurance and getting it fixed if needed.?

I just bought a sidekick slide from e-bay and I found out it was purchased surrounded by Oct of 2007 which was before the take back as I JUST found out. I wanted to know would I be able to bid t-mobile and get insurance put on it even though I didn't buy it directly from t-mobile?? I also wanted to know if it does hold the glitch could I take it to a regular cell phone shop to get fixed or is it something that just t-mobile/motorola can fix? I'm confused and mad that I didn't do enough research formerly buying the gadget. HELP!
