My truck be stolen next to a trailer attached, shouldn't my automobile insurance policy cover the trailer, too?

Answers: No. In order to hold the trailer covered - you have to have the trailer specifically timetabled on the policy and pay premium for it.

If the trailer was stolen from your residence premises - at hand may be limited coverage under your homeowners policy.

Likewise, any personal property surrounded by the truck/trailer is not covered under the automobile insurance - that would be covered under the home owners policy.
Nope - Any mess up or loss to a trailer would be covered under a separate trailer policy. The only coverage that extends to a trailer from the motor that pulls it, is liability. So, if the driver hits another vehicle with the trailer, there would be coverage to repair the other vehicle. Auto comprehensive and collision coverages singular cover things that are permanently attached to the car (stereo, speakers, etc). And in attendance is usually an exclusion or stipulation in a homeowner's policy for the items that can be covered as personal property. Source(s): Agent 11+ years
When you buy your insurance, did you tell the agent that it covers also the trailer. If not, read the policy, they does not describe the trailer. You can lose the trailer minus the truck or the truck without the trailer, or both. Insurannce policies are tricky, be aware.
Think nearly it a minute. If you attached your boat and trailer to your truck (or auto) do you think the auto insurance company should pay for your boat merely because you were towing it with your vehicle? If you have a construction trailer filled with tools should your auto policy cover the trailer and its contents? Merely attaching something to your vehicle does not afford you automatic theft coverage..
trailer might be a homeowner's insurance item ??!??!?!
Not unless you scheduled the trailer lower than your automobile policy, and bought theft coverage for it.

If you don't BUY theft coverage, you don't HAVE raid coverage. And the trailer is a seperate vehicle.
Don't assume coverage. If you had any valuable contents within your vehicle your auto policy would not cover that either (in most cases). You can usually add these types of coverages, however, and be covered for trailers, contents and sometimes even pets.
