Wisconsin DOES hold a Proof of Financial Responsibility law, meaning essentially that you must get insurance. A certificate of self-insurance will also suffice, as it does in other states requiring insurance.
The difference for Wisconsin is that PROOF of insurance is expendable when renewing a drivers license or car registration. But insurance is STILL required, nonetheless.
In Oklahome, you were cited for not carrying PROOF of insurance. Your 48 hours is time to provide the obligatory proof to dismiss the ticket. Otherwise, you're liable for the fine, whether or not you were covered. Since you weren't covered, pay the fine anyway. Obviously they tolerate you go if all you get was the ticket.
You must realize that most places you call for insurance to drive, I would imagine it would be something you would know about>
(I would probably done the same, and risked it. Maybe telephone call the police station and come up with and excuse and how you'll drop it off within 2 weeks, hopefully they will say forget it)
Where did you obtain the info going on for not being required to carry auto insurance contained by WI? I am a resident in Wisconsin, and it is REQUIRED that if you own a vehicle, it MUST be insured.
And besides, in other states, if you are driving through them, you must comply near their laws. If they require you to have insurance, later you must have it.
Pay the ticket and get insurance on the vehicle.
You will enjoy to pay the ticket. Insurance laws come and go by state. All policies have "other state provisions" which means they comply beside the laws of the state where an offense or acciden occur.
The Oklahoma law mandates that vehicle using Oklahoma roads have to have insurance.
Buy some insurance. Source(s): Retired claims adjuster.
Have a government recognized in your state call and distribute a letter to the person within OK that you spoke to. They don't have like a court item there in OK where on earth you can fight it? Try to provide legal documents that where on earth you live does not require car insurance. They will most likely throw it out(I hope).
