Know five adjectives to describe yourself. I interviewed for an adjustor's position 20 years ago, and the first thing the guy asked was, "Give me five adjectives to describe yourself". Took me what seem like years to even think of what an adjective is, and consequently I couldn't think of 5. Oddly enough, I didn't attain a second interview.
Look neat and professional, meaning tie and jacket for a man and pantsuit or blouse and slacks for a woman even if they dress business unattached in the office.
Be prepared to yak about yourself and your acomplishments.
Answer questions next to some elaboration rather than short one sentence answers.
Be prepared with a calculator and pencil for further trialling.
Know your resume and be prepared to answer questions on education, work history and what you can enlighten about yourself that is not written within the resume.
The adjuster position requires great communication skills written, face to face, and especially on the handset. You will talk to a wide assortment of people from the general public, other insurance company reps, doctors, lawyer, auto body shops, rental car companies, accident renovation...
It requires great organizational skills in prioritizing and reprioritizing, compassion, and a great deal of restraint and self confidence.
Don't be wishy-washy and stick to your deadlines and you will find out this can be challenging and believe me never boring!

You should know how to estimate cost of material and the labor burden rate for the region your are estimating a claim.
If this is an entry horizontal outside adjuster position communication skills are important. You will be negotiating claims obverse to face with claimants surrounded by negative situations. During your interview the insurance company will take identify on how well you pedal yourself verbally and may ask you to write a one or two page paper concerning your choice.
