I hold auto insurance from GEICO. Would the converage be polite if I travel to Canada on my personal vehicle?

Answers: Call Geico and communicate them you're going on vacation, and need a "Canadian Non-Resident Interprovincial Lability Card". This will provide proof should you be stopped, that your vehicle is insured for at lowest the minimums in Canada. Be aware that the amount of Liability coverage needed in Canada tend to be much higher than the United States. Ontario's minimum liability coverage is $250,000.00 Canadian. Most people get policys with $1,000,000.00 Canadian coverage, and some companies are now writing $2 million dollar policies.
Why do you ask here instead of calling your insurance company? Just call them and convey the dates of your travel and they'll add TEMPORARY foreign insurance. If they do not hold it, you can buy one right before you cross the border (you'll see signs for insurance before you acquire to the check point.)

To people who say an auto insurance is obedient anywhere in North America: absolutely not true. Maybe SOME insurance policies include such coverage, but MOST are suitable only in the USA. Read your policy and find a place where on earth it says "good within Canada and / or Mexico." If you find such a thing in your policy, you enjoy a very unusual one.
Please do not reply: "I have it." If you do, great, but it is unusual.
Certianly, your insurance is valid no matter where you drive surrounded by north america. this includes canada, the USofA,& mexico.
You are covered driving to canada for a temporary visit, smaller quantity than 3 months, longer would not be temporary. Any longer Geico will consider a permanent stay which would later make your policy void because it have been violated. Source(s): I work for Geico

as long as that is the veh,to be exact coverd
If you have a standard auto policy, the coverage territory is the US, Canada & US possessions & territory. That means you are covered in Canada. Read your policy, it will narrate you. Also, most auto policies will provide minimum limits per the laws of the state or province you are travelling surrounded by. This means that if you have lower ends than the minimum in a Canadian province, your policy will provide the additional ends, without making any changes to the policy & minus any additional premium. What you will have to do though is telephone call GEICO & get a Canadian ID card. This ID card is a nonresident ID card & is written in both English & French. The company should furnish it to you for the time you will be travelling there. You will not be required to show it at the border, but you will be required to show it if you are pulled over or involved in an fluke. If you do not have it, you can be in deeply of trouble. GEICO should be able to explain this to you. If they do not know this, if I were you I would bid an independent agent to get quotes & change your insurance. I can flay GEICOs prices all the time, so they are not always the best rate. Also, if you enjoy an indendent agent in your area, they will be capable of help you with claims & other issues & you can if truth be told go to an office & speak to someone within person.
call your agent or the company. some countries require additional coverage.
Assuming you have proper coverage, it is pious in Canada. You can verify with your insurance agent or broker that Canadian and American auto insurance policies are right in any state or province.
Yes,call for them and tell them your traveling...I took a motorcycle trip to Halifax with Geico ins
Should be fine.

It should if truth be told state on the back of your insurance card where it is valid.

I live surrounded by Canada, and mine is good for the USA as well, I don't discharge any extra or anything
