Can I stay on my dad's auto insurance policy if I don't live near him?

I use State Farm insurance.

Best entry to do is call and ask..I think you can..
You have suppose to have your own insurance if you do not live next to your dad. All the agent has to do is change your address to where on earth you live now.

I see it all the time that kids stay on their parents policy because it is cheaper that approach. But really they are not suppose to. If there is a claim most likely State Farm will still cover you, but they do hold a right not to so there is no guarantee.

All you have to do is adaptation your address. Hopefully you are listed as a driver on the insurance policy. If your not, then grasp added as a driver first before changing the address.
Do you drive his cars?

Who is the owner of the car you are driving?

There is a whole lot of other information specifically needed.

Your best bet is to call or meet beside your State Farm agent and ask them. Source(s): Insurance Adjuster 12 years
