The permanent status "full coverage" is used loosely in the auto insurance industry. Although some people will say aloud having liability and comprehensive and collision coverage consists of "full coverage", you're not "fully" covered.

When you purchase a vehicle, and the dealer requires coverage for their coup¨¦, you're going to need comprehensive and collision coverage (which covers the car of any damages minus a deductable), so their cars protected. Since you stipulation liability to cover the third party (plus it's the law contained by most states), you're automatically going to need that.

Other coverages you can add to own more protection for yourself would be...

Uninsured/underinsured motorist - This covers your passengers if you get hit minus insurance. If you only have liability and C&C coverage, and someone hits you near no insurance, then your passengers aren't covered by your company. Adding this coverage on would filch care of this.

Medical - This covers yourself and your passengers if you're at knock in an accident, and you and your passenger need medical attention.

Towing/Rental - This will provide you coverage if you're in an luck and you need your car towed. The rental will salary for your replacement vehicle while your car is being fixed because of a loss within your car. Most inurance companies offer these as reimbursement programs. This medium that you pay, provide receipts to the insurance company and you get reimbursed.

Adding these extra coverages give you better protection then just have liability and comprehensive and collision. Talk to your agent to see what best fits you. Source(s): Insurance Agent in California
Full Coverage is your Liability, Collision and Comprehensive.

Collision coverers dmages that arraises to your vehicle when in a at reproach accident, hit and run, loss of controle type accident.

Comprehensive also coveres damages to your vehicle when a Fire, Theft, Vandalism, windstorm, hit an animal type of incident occur.

Liability is coveres you as a person. If you get injured, sued, loss of wages. It also coveres your vehicle if you procure into an not at fault accident such as, someone reverse ending you, someone going thru a stop sign and hitting you.

When you have comprehensive and collision coverage as well as your liability.

Collision will cover YOUR property within an at fault accident.

Comprehensive covers YOUR property when it's non happenstance related such as theft, fire, vandalism, chalice, etc.

EDIT:
The chick below me is wrong! Liability covers other people, not you. It would cover to fix somebody's car that you hit, or somebody's medical bill that you hit if you be in an at fault twist of fate. Liability does NOT cover your medical bills or YOUR car. Source(s): Insurance Agent
Generally assumed to be Collision and Comprehensive coverage only.
Some folks lump liability coverage into this, as liability coverage is required by each state.
As you can see from other answers, there are masses thoughts on this topic. Source(s): Claim adjuster too many years.
