Question about Auto Insurance settlement procedure...?
My lawyer and I settled on an ammount from State Farm last week. She said that she will grasp the paperwork going. Today I called her to make sure she talk to a lady from my doctor regarding a bill, she told me that she is waiting for the check to come within, and she will call me then.
I thought that I needed to sign paperwork from the insurance company previously they send a check..isn't this right? Shouldn't i have signed something?
Answers:
State Farm, as approaching all insurance companies, would require that you sign a Release, prior to them issuing any checks.
By signing the release you are stating that you are accepting the amount they offered, and that you are releasing state farm and their insured from any other claims, and will not pursue them for any more money.
It is possible that your advocate may have signed on your behalf. But your lawyer would own had to have Power of Attorney over you. You would hold to originally signed a Power of Attorney stating your lawyer can act and answer on your behalf short you present. Source(s): Claims 6 yrs
You sign the paperwork when you get the check. Your verbal agreement is plenty.
