Can police officer check Auto insurance by checking your VIN#?
Can a police officer check to see if your Auto insurance is payed up to date by checking your VIN # to a database? I got pulled over and could not find my insurance card and he said he could but I think he be just trying to scare me. Thanks!

I've be a police officer for 38 years here in texas. as far as i know there is no process to check for insurance through your VIN. Just recently we got a program which let us check by your license plate but as far as through your VIN=NO
No, there isn't a database link established on the other hand between vin and insurance and it does not look like it will be in the practical future.. there are more pressing issues at appendage now.
