I Have A Auto Insurance Question. Parents Policy?

Im on my parents policy currently and I would like to call around and bring my own policy since im moving out. I am concerned that my rates will raise or my current insurance company will find out and raise my rates. Anyone know first foot about this or have any information.

You can compare how the insurance quotes would adjust, for example here - autoinsurance.undonet.com
Your rates on your own policy most likely will be higher than on your parents, seeing as you are still youthful and a higher risk.

I am going to assume that you are at least of lawful age. If you are a minor, you could not get your own policy.

The first thing to do is to call for your parent's agent. Most companies do not want to write policies for younger, higher risk drivers, and you may ahve to go beside a high risk (much more expensive) company. Many times if you are covered on your parent's policy, the company will accept you for coverage on your own, because they are already covering you.

Your current company will not lift your rates just because you are shopping around for coverage. Source(s): 30 years in the auto business

I recommend an online insurance quote. It's free and generally hassle free. http://www.goodonlinedeals.com/Auto-Insu…
