Allstate auto insurance to be efficient after 3 days?
I just bought a car and have need of a new auto insurance. I got quotes on different insurance companies and allstate seem good to me. Since I was not competent to customize the coverage as I wanted on the online quote, I decided to make conversation to the allstate agent in peron at the retail location. They gave me the price and the coverage I required and everything seemed to be well until I found out that it take for 3 days for my insurance to be effective. Is it normal?
I used to be near Geico which I had bought online and they gave me insurance as soon as I signed up and compensated online.

Apparently that Allstate agent doesn't enjoy binding authority. It's not normal - most agents have 'binding authority' and can distribute you out instantly, with an insurance id card and a policy number.
Normally the auto insurance coverage should be given as soon as you apply for insurance.The reason for the delay of 3 days might be if they do not enjoy the binding authority and have to get the approval, contained by which case it is possible that he is not an approved Allstate agent and is submitting your application to another broker/agent who is with Allstate. the other posters are correct. it could be that they are waiting to verify your payment is good. but even contained by that case, if you had a check that be nsf and then had a coincidence, they could deny your claim based on no coverage since a nsf check.
you have a latest car and need instantaneous coverage to protect you. it is not uncommon for someone to get unlucky and hold an accident just minutes after purchasing insurance, i own had claims just approaching that. but on new applications, the agent normally writes down the time.
ie; 3 pm; so if contained by an accident at 3;15 pm, you are covered.
have see claims where person within accident and then go to a agents office and buys insurance. we then can deny claim since if a police report file, will show date and time, and the application would validate no insurance at time of accident.
i suggest you ring up the allstate main office and natter to someone and ask that they can confirm you are insured prior to getting in your car.

You are receiving what Allstate call there future impressive date discount which is 5%. tell then you hold a need immediately and they will transport off that discount and be able to issue coverage in a minute. Or this is worst case they have lost binding authority and must submit adjectives apps to underwriting before they can bind anything over. I suggest you call upon them and tell them you need the policy today. If they read aloud no they can't do that ask why and then go find another Allstate agent.

They're pretty honest at screwing their policy holders and the people their policy holders enjoy accidents with.
Most insurance companies will cover you instantly once the money go through. Not sure what they are doing for the 3 days, unless they are selling white paper loans on a national level from the on a daily basis harvests... Or is this some mall kiosk where on earth they have to take dissertation forms to an office to enter into a computer- that'll slow things down.
Don't sweat it- pretty much every insurance company is criminal in its predatory pursuits. Just choose who you will grasp hosed by and stop worrying about it (but yeah, Allstate...ew).
